About

Born and raised in the small rural village of River Valley, Ontario, Juliette is the 5th oldest of a family of 16. She is a very proud daughter, sister, spouse, mother of two sons, Meumér of four grandchildren, and auntie to several nieces and nephews.

Juliette is a Franco-Métis Elder/Knowledge Carrier, a citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario and a member of the Sudbury Métis Council. She honours her mixed heritage and has played a leadership role in her Métis community as member of the Provisional Council of the Métis Nation of Ontario, Regional Councillor of MNO Region 5, Women’s Representative of the Sudbury Métis Council and/or in her role as Métis Elder in residence at Sudbury Laurentian University, the McEwen School of Architecture and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. She is also often called upon to do presentations on her Métis culture in schools or for various community groups.

A lifelong learner, Juliette is a graduate of the Sudbury Regional School of Nursing where she obtained her Registered Nurse diploma, as well as a graduate of Laurentian University where she obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Juliette is now retired. Her career in Health care was rich and varied and spanned over 35 years. She also recently retired from her small Management Consulting and Translation Firm.

Juliette is a dedicated community volunteer, always striving to bring about positive changes and always bringing a helping hand to various groups and endeavours. She has also done countless presentations and workshops on a variety of topics related to health care, genealogy, and francophone and/or Métis culture, and continues to do so. When she was invited to join P-SEC, she accepted without hesitation. She hopes to provide support and wisdom to the group, as well as bring some cultural awareness and guidance, particularly in regard to Franco-Métis and Franco-Ontarian cultures.

Juliette is the co-author of “Le Centre de santé communautaire de Sudbury : stratégies et perspectives”, published in “Reflets : Revue ontaroise d’intervention sociale et communautaire (fall 1995). She also co-authored her mother’s mémoires.
