I am currently finishing my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) at Dalhousie University and am beginning a Master of Social Work program in the Fall. Prior to this, I completed 3 years in the Bachelor of Arts program at UNB, majoring in Psychology and Sociology. Currently, I am completing my BSW field placement with a mental health and addictions agency in Fredericton, where I am creating and facilitating group programming for individuals and their family members who are experiencing various mental health challenges. I also sit on the Fredericton Community Suicide Prevention Committee.
Working with Drs. Poulin and Gouliquer as a research assistant provided me with valuable experience, knowledge, and insight. The theories and frameworks used in the P-SEC lab helped to shape my theoretical grounding as a social worker and researcher. In the future, I hope to use the knowledge of theory and qualitative research that I learned from working in the P-SEC lab in my own thesis during my graduate studies.
My research and practice interests include anti-oppressive social work theory and practice, narrative therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, emotion intensity disorders, and women and LGBTQ+ individuals who are incarcerated.
