Jonathan received his B.A. (political science) from the University of Calgary in 2006 and his LL.B (law) from the University of New Brunswick in 2009.   During his time at University of New Brunswick, Jonathan worked with Drs. Carmen Poulin and Lynne Gouliquer as a research assistant. Today, Jonathan works as a lawyer and a mediator in a private family law practice in Calgary, Alberta. He has represented his clients at the Alberta Provincial Court, the Court of Queen’s Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal. In addition to running a busy practice, Jonathan is an instructor for the Alberta Parenting After Separation course.  Jonathan particularly enjoys working with members of the queer community and was a board member for Possibilities: Calgary’s Bisexual and Pansexual Community (2012 – 2015). He also involves himself in research related to legal issues facing queer and polyamourous Canadians. In 2014 he was invited as a faculty member to the Federation of Canadian Law Societies’ National Family Law Program where he presented his research and conference-paper, “Queering Family Law After Same Sex Marriage” (Jonathan Griffith & Collin Smith, “Queering Family Law After Same Sex Marriage”, (Whistler: National Family Law Conference 2014). He is currently a LL.M candidate at Osgoode Hall, York University (expected 2017).
