About

Gina is a recent grad with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from UNB. She began working with P-SEC under the supervision of Dr. Carmen Poulin and Dr. Lynne Gouliquer as a work-study student in the Fall of 2022. She has remained on the team as a research assistant, progressively moving into the role of lab coordinator. She has worked on multiple P-SEC projects, most notably focussing on the experiences of the Canadian Armed Forces 2SLGBTQIA+ military members and their partners, as well as the project examining the lived experiences of Métis individuals living east of the Manitoba-Ontario border.

Gina is very grateful for the learning opportunities, support, guidance, and mentorship she is receiving from the P-SEC research group. She is gaining valuable experience and knowledge in qualitative research and the understanding of marginalised groups. P-SEC has helped her with her studies and allowed her to experience first-hand some of the techniques and principles she has learned throughout her degree. Gina hopes to utilize the skills and knowledge she gains from her involvement in the P-SEC Research Team in her future career endeavours, and would love to work in the youth mental health and/or substance use sectors in the future. She also hopes to carry the knowledge she has gained with her and spread awareness about marginalised groups and the issues they face today.
