About

Melissa completed her honours thesis entitled: Homosexual Identity Development in the Context of the Canadian Forces: Organisational Influences, Schematic Responses, and Coping Strategies, under the supervision of Drs. Carmen Poulin and Lynne Gouliquer in 2005.

Melissa firmly believes that the early qualitative experience acquired through active participation in Drs. Poulin and Gouliquer’s P-SEC research team equipped her exceptionally well for graduate studies and her career. She received her PhD in Applied Social Psychology (Health and Community Psychology, 2013) from the University of Windsor in Ontario, Canada, where she established a program of research on lesbian health. Melissa has held Senior Research Associate positions since then, all in the health sector. In her most recent role at the Supply Chain Advancement Network in Health (University of Windsor, Odette School of Business), she designed an impact study to capture the Network’s achievements over its four-year mandate and co-wrote two successful grants worth ~4M in funding. Melissa proudly served on the editorial board for the Journal of Lesbian Studies from 2018-2020. In the spring of 2023, nearly 20 years following the completion of her undergraduate honors thesis,Melissa returned to P-SEC to work in a senior researcher capacity, to support Lynne and Carmen toward further advancement and dissemination of their ground-breaking work.
